Muhammad Yousuf is a former Pakistani cricketer who is considered to be one of the greatest batsmen to have played for Pakistan. He played for the national team from 1998 to 2010 and scored more than 17,000 runs in all formats of the game. Yousuf is known for his stylish stroke play, perfect technique and ability to score consistently at the highest level.


Yousuf was born on August 27, 1974 in Lahore, Pakistan. He started his cricket career playing for his local team Lahore City Cricket Association and made his first-class debut in 1994. He soon established himself as a prolific batsman in domestic cricket, scoring consistently and catching the attention of the national selectors.





Yousuf made his international debut for Pakistan in 1998 and it didn't take him long to make his mark. In only his second Test match, he scored a century against South Africa in Durban, becoming the first Pakistani to score a hundred on his overseas debut. Yousuf continued to excel in the Test format, scoring 24 Test centuries in his career, including a world record sixth in a single calendar year in 2006.


Yousuf's success in Test cricket was not limited to scoring centuries. He was also known for his ability to bat for a long time and his ability to play match-winning innings. One of his most memorable innings came in the second Test against India in Kolkata in 2005. Yousuf scored an unbeaten 81 in the fourth innings to lead Pakistan to a famous victory and become the first Asian team to win a Test match at the Eden Gardens.


While Yousuf's success in Test cricket is well documented, he was also a formidable limited-overs cricketer. He played 288 One Day Internationals for Pakistan, scoring over 9,000 runs at an average of 41.71. Yousuf was known for his ability to score quickly and his strike rate of 75.10 is proof of that.


Yousuf retired from international cricket in 2010, but his legacy lives on. He is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have played for Pakistan and his record speaks for itself. Yousuf's contribution to Pakistan cricket cannot be overstated and he will always be remembered as one of the finest cricketers to have played for his country.
